What's New

Hello!  Please check here for news of my latest (or just the most fun) voiceover work.

Check back often!

September 2011 - Ah, I've been remiss in updating here. So many things have been happening! I've moved into a new place - a little bungalow in Valley Glen (one of those LA made up communities) and I just love it. There are 6 bungalows that were used for studio players in the old days and we're like a little Melrose Place - lol. We're all artists and we all help each other out. I love hearing the violinist or the guitar players (yes, 2 of those) rehearsing. We've worked out a deal where I can record audiobooks till noon and everyone tries to be very quite and in turn I enjoy their music versus being irritated by the noise creeping into my audio. I've bartered with the PR woman and the photographer. I've borrowed Auralex from my neighbor. I know their cats and dogs and they know mine. If I need something heavy moved - the guys help out. It's just a joyous, artistic environment. I'm very blessed to have found such a wonderful place to call home. Lots of new audiobooks and a new NYC agent. And I just launched Part 2 in my series "The Power of Five" - this one is "Audiobooks A - Z". So all is well here! Be joyful and remember - don't give up before the miracle.

September 2010 - "Blood Born" is out and I'm really proud of it. Also, just released is "Liar, Liar" for Blackstone Audio. It's about a woman (Cat Deluca) who owns a detective agency called "Pants on Fire" - as in "liar, liar pants on fire" and she catches cheating husbands. It was a blast to voice!! Installed the Auralex Max Wall solution in my studio and it rocks. Also added a new mic - the Avant CV-12. It's my first tube mic and it's fabulous. And last - I negotiated a 4 book deal for a client with McGraw-Hill and he's recording in my studio. We are almost finished with the first one. So now I add manager and producing engineer to my bag of tricks. It's very interesting being on the other side of the mic. Working with some great students right now and hoping to get them multi book deals as well. Please check out my monthly column in Voice Over Insider - would love to hear your comments and answer any burning voice actor questions you may have. Be well and happy - joy and abundance.

February 22, 2010 - have some news for you all. Have 2 short stories and 1 novella for Infinivox - really fun stuff. Also am starting a new MASSIVE (15 hour) audiobook for Random House/Books On Tape titled "Blood Born" by Linda Howard. A vampire novel which will be tons of fun. The best part is that this is to be recorded at Books On Tape so I will not be required to edit and I'll have a director. Paradise!!! Manuscript delivered tomorrow and I start voicing on Friday and continue straight through - as they are on a tight deadline. It matters not - I'm thrilled. I've also just endorsed CEntrance Mic Port Pro - check out the link here - http://www.centrance.com/artists/vanessa_hart.shtml happy to do it - it's a high quality product that I use and love. That's all for now - joy and abundance to all.

Just finished the audiobook "Winter Fire" for Harper Collins - kind of a western romance - loved it! Great fun to do. Also just entered into a new publishing arrangement with McGraw-Hill. Finished a PSA for Haiti called: "Let's Talk Haiti", which you can find on YouTube. And my new column for the Voice Over Insider premiers February 1st - check it out. And last, but not least, I'm releasing a new product of mine called: A Career as a Voice Actor: The Power of 5. You can find out more by clicking on the Products page on this website. More soon . . .

Currently working on "26 Monkeys, Also The Abyss" by Kij Johnson (a Nebula finalist) for Infinivox. This is the most amazing story. It looks simple on it's surface but every read reveals something new and brings new questions to mind. Perhaps the most prep work I've ever done for a short story. Hoping to actually open my mouth and voice it next week.

Just released (Feb. 2009) was "Sima's Undergarments for Women" by Ilanger Stanger Ross for BooksOnTape/Random House. This was a real challenge (and a joy) as the main character is a 68 year old Jewish woman who peppers her speech with Kiddish. The author was wonderful in assisting me with the pages and pages of pronunciations that I needed and could not find. She even managed not to laugh directly in my face but once or twice.

I have a National TV campaign that just started running (November 08) for Oreck. They are, obviously, going a different direction with this new campaign and I'm really excited to be part of the new branding.

Also just finished a new book for McGraw-Hill called "Opposite Sex" and am beginning work on a new non-fiction title "Natural Herbal Cures & Remedies"

I had a great time at the end of June with APAC in Los Angeles and then was fortunate to be hired by Stefan Rudnicki of Skyboat Road Company in association with Blackstone Audio to voice a story from "Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show".  The story was "Respite" by Rachel Ann Dryden. A wonderful story! I had the amazing experience of being directed by Emily Janice Card. She's a brillant, intuitive director and I learned tons from her. She thought of things I never would have and greatly improved my performance. Thank you Emily!

Audie 2008 Nomination Finalists!!

My audiobook "Growing Up Ethnic In America" for Penguin and Audible.com is a finalist in the Short Stories Category!!  I voiced two of the stories and so enjoyed working with Stefan - we are thrilled to be nominated.  Here's to all the nominees - Congragulations and Good Luck!

I'm the new female voice for Harley-Davidson. I'm doing their in-store ads with a group of really great people in New York - shout out to Jeremy of In-Store Sports. These are the same guys who do all the Foot-Locker instore ads - great people and great work!

My first audiobook for Infinivox "The Cost to be Wise" by Maureen McHugh has been published!

The five pieces that I did for McGraw-Hill's Listen To Genius website are starting be uploaded now. The two pieces currently up are by Sarah Bernhardt and Lillian Wald - check them out at:  www.listentogenius.com

Just finished voicing 2 chapters for "Growing Up Ethnic in America" for audible.com

-this was great fun! My director was the fabulous Stefan Rudnicki.  The two chapters I performed were:  "Drowning" by Mary Bucci Bush and "Red Velvet Dress" by Naomi Shihab Nye.  Wonderful writing.  With the help of the aforementioned "fabulous Stefan" I voiced Italian, French, Arabic and two southern dialects.  Check back here for a release date. - This has been published!

Another piece that I just finished is entitled "Anthroptic" and is a joint project with the author, Benjamin Rosenbaum and the sculptor, Ethan Ham.  This is a brillant multi-media piece for an art exhibit in New York City.  Please check back here for reviews.  These are two of the smartest, most talented and the nicest men I have ever worked with.  Jump into working with either of these gentlemen when you can.

That's my favorite news for now - all my best to you and yours!
